Because the truth is...my struggle with my weight almost had me at the breaking point. After trying SO MANY different diets (29 to be precise)...I was about to give up.

My weight slowly ballooned after I had our second child, Gina. 

I had an easy time losing the pregnancy weight after our daughter was born so I wasn't worried at first when I packed on some pounds. ‘I can get back in shape easily’,

I thought to myself.I couldn’t have been more wrong.Until one day, I looked into the mirror and was shocked by my reflection. 

It hit me that Gina was 5 years old already and at 256 lbs, I was heavier than when I was pregnant with her?! 😱

It also hit me that both my husband and I were out of shape and struggling to even climb the stairs... 

At this point, it was not just about wanting to look good, but about being fully there for my children, I owed it to them to regain my wellbeing.

However, losing weight proved to be much harder than just "eating less and moving more."

I counted the number of diet books I had bought- I owned 29 including the ones on my Kindle!!! I thought I needed a better diet plan, but what I needed was a better solution. One that actually worked!

MY TURNING POINT

Thankfully, I found the missing piece of the puzzle that changed my life and figure. It was all thanks to a reunion with a high school friend of mine.

So after over a year of laboring at the gym, starving on health shakes and jumping from one diet plan to another-

Look better. Look younger. Feel better. Live longer. Live better.

I was drained. Even worse, all I had to show for my hard work was the grand total of..... 5 pounds lost, and I had to keep dieting just to maintain!

My children and my husband were tiptoeing around me because I was "hangry" all the time and snapped very easily at them. What was the point? 

I wanted to get in shape so I can get my fun and confident self back. But instead I was obsessing about what I could and couldn't eat and was constantly in a bad mood...I tried to find ways to logically justify my size.

Perhaps at 47 years old I was too old to change my body... Perhaps having kids could’ve broken my metabolism.

I wanted to LOOK and FEEL my best. I wanted to be the best version myself and not have my husband just settle for me for the sake of the kids...   

I felt a little part of myself die every time I looked in the mirror...💔

It may sound superficial but this is my truth. This is how I really felt. I refused to accept that my best years were behind me!

I hadn't seen Beth for some time and our lunch together unsettled me- my friend looked incredible, as if time had just stopped for her! We did not look like we were in the same school year and I felt a wave of despair (and if I am honest with myself- jealousy), come over me. 

I was trying to hide the bulge coming over my jeans under the restaurant table… Worst of all, I ordered a salad as usual and my friend had pasta and dessert!?!? 🍝 🍰 

It was too much to bear. How was it even possible- back in school, Beth was one of the heaviest girls in our class?! She obviously knew something I didn’t.

I watched her enjoy her cheesecake guilt free and was dying to learn her secret!I thought she would just tell me to keep eating salads...
